Clayton Leo McCullick, 93, El Dorado Springs, went home to Jesus on Monday, October 21, 2024.
Leo was born at home to John and Lorena (Ellerman) McCullick on Feb. 4, 1931, in rural Cedar Springs, MO.
Leo met his wife, Zelma Joann (Hardy) McCullick, in 1951 in Collins, MO. They were married on Aug. 29, 1951, and went on to have two children, Leola Ann and Jerry Lee. Leo enjoyed 70 years of marriage with Joann before her passing in 2022.
Leo and Joann began their marriage in El Dorado Springs and later purchased a dairy farm near Collins. They moved back to El Dorado Springs in 1968, where they have lived since.
Leo worked at Witt Printing and the Shoe Factory and as a dairy farmer, carpenter and business owner. He loved working with his hands. He was also a founding member of the El Dorado Springs Church of God (Holiness). Throughout his entire life, he was a devout Christian and treasured his relationship with God.
In addition to being a dedicated church member, Leo loved spending time with his family. He always made sure to support his grandkids at all their activities and events. He was very proud of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Some of his grandchildren’s best memories are of walking to get ice cream cones on Sunday afternoons, having sleepovers, and going fishing with him.
Leo joins his parents, John and Lorena; his brothers, Leroy and Wayne; sisters, Faye Amick and Lela Jones; his daughter, Leola (McCullick) Downer; son-in-law, Wayne Downer; and his son, Jerry McCullick, in Heaven.
Leo is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Bob and Jolene McCullick; his sister and brother-in-law, Wanda and Wayne Worthington; brother-in-law, George Hardy and wife, Sharon; daughter-in-law, Julie (Loyd) McCullick; grandchildren: Bryan and Jennifer Downer of Springfield, MO, Jeremy and Jami McCullick of El Dorado Springs, Luke McCullick of El Dorado Springs, and Megan and Jason Biddlecome of Haughton, LA; and five great grandchildren: Keilei, Alexis, Nate, Anthony, and Gunner.
A funeral service for Leo McCullick will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 24, at the El Dorado Springs Church of God (Holiness) with Rev. Joe Trussell officiating.
