Debra Delilah McMahon, 70, El Dorado Springs, passed away at Cedar County Memorial Hospital on Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2023, after a long illness. She was born in Jackson County on March 17, 1953, to John and Virginia Decker. Debra graduated from El Dorado Springs High School in 1971.

After graduating, Debra spent most of her working career doing various secretarial jobs. Her later years were spent working as a medical transcriptionist in Illinois, Oklahoma and Missouri and even working from home. She loved to learn new skills and was even considering becoming a court reporter just prior to becoming ill.

Debra became a christian at a young age. She was very committed to her faith. She graduated from Shalom Bible College and Seminary with at Bachelor of Divinity degree. Her faith was an integral part of her life. It was a source of strength, comfort and guidance for her. She was an active member of the church wherever she lived.

Debra was very creative and blessed many people with gifts, each one thoughtfully designed for the person that she was giving it to. She also was an avid quilter, making quilts for all her siblings, nieces and nephews. She had no children of her own, but dearly loved and spoiled all her nieces and nephews. She will be greatly missed by all her family and friends.

Debra was preceded in death by her parents, John and Virgina; one half-sister; several half-brothers; two sisters-in-law, Susan Decker and Wanda Decker.

Survivors include brothers, Darell (Mary) Decker – Springfield and Carl Joe Decker – El Dorado Springs; sister, Carol (Larry) Mays – El Dorado Springs; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service for Debra was held Sunday, Dec. 31, at Bland-Hackleman Funeral Home. Her final resting place was El Dorado Springs City Cemetery.
