Deena Glyn (Sherman) Selby, 61, El Dorado Springs, passed away at her home on April 10, 2018, after a short battle with cancer.

Deena was born on Oct. 28, 1956, to Glen W. and Elaine (Vickers) Sherman. Deena was raised in El Dorado Springs and graduated in 1975. She attended nursing school in Nevada, MO, and received her LPN in 1976.

Deena began her nursing career by working for Dr. Bill Sunderwirth in El Dorado Springs. She later held nursing positions at Family Medical Clinic also in El Dorado Springs, Taylor Health Center on the campus of Missouri State University (then SMSU), and Nevada Medical Clinic. She was also a part-time school nurse at the El Dorado Springs R-2 School when herå children were young. Deena was an excellent nurse and always loved helping others.

She loved spending time with her grandchildren and loved going to their activities until her health prevented her from doing so.

Deena was united in marriage to Keith Selby on Sept. 20, 1996, and he survives of the home. Keith was a constant in Deena’s life and he took excellent care of her until the very end. Deena’s children and grandchildren are very grateful to Keith for loving and caring for her as he did.

In addition to her husband, Keith, survivors include her children – Tracy Barger and husband, David, Jamie Toliver and Jenny Cheek and husband, James, all of El Dorado Springs; step-sons, Kory Selby and Kyle Selby, both of Nevada; grandchildren – Trey Barger, Carrollton, Jessi Toliver, Bolivar, Abegail Cheek, Hunter Cheek and Maddy Cheek, all of El Dorado Springs; step-grandchildren – Kandon Selby, Paxton Selby, Corbin Selby and Brenna Morgan, all of Nevada; and great-grandson, Tanner Shane Barger, Trenton; two sisters, Barbara Henry (Dean) of Nevada, and Carol Ruthmann (Steve), of Butler; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceding Deena in death were her parents; sisters, Beverly Conway and Deborah Williams; and a grandson, Tanner David Barger.

Graveside services were held on Saturday, April 14, in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Dederick, MO, with Rev. Brent Bland officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Bland-Hackleman Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were Jamie Toliver, Trey Barger, Curtis Harrell, Scott Harrell, Kory Selby and Kyle Selby. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Tanner Barger Memorial Fund in care of the funeral home.
