Donald Wayne Fletcher, 77, El Dorado Springs, passed away Thursday, May 4, 2017. Donnie was born July 29, 1939, in Nehawka, NE, to Lewis Henry and Nova Wauneta (Walker) Fletcher.

Donnie attended school in El Dorado Springs, where he graduated in 1957. This is where he met the love of his life, Georgia Geisken. They were married on Aug. 1, 1958. To this union two children were born, Sherri Norman and Randy Fletcher.

More than 27 years of Donnie’s life were spent working at the International Shoe Factory. He also worked several years at Community Springs Nursing Home in maintenance.

Anyone who knew Donnie knew you could usually find him fishing. It didn’t seem to matter if the temperature was freezing cold or stifling hot.

Donnie was a member of the Church of Christ.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Lewis and Nova Fletcher; a sister, Darlene Smith; and a brother, Scotty Fletcher.

Survivors include his wife and best friend of 58 years, Georgia; one daughter and her husband, Sherri and Gary Norman; one son and his wife, Randy and Carmen Fletcher; one sister and brother-in-law, Janice and Richard Howerton, of Bolivar; six grandchildren – Ken (DaNae) Norman, Kurt (Jeanie) Norman, Klarisa Norman, Kaitlyn Norman, Miranda (Shannon) Lowrey, and Jordan (Jamie) Fletcher; and eight great-grandchildren – Kolten, Parker, Tevor, Kaydence and Riley Norman, Danica Lowrey, Kalen Post and Blair Fletcher.

Services were held on Sunday, May 7, in Bland-Hackleman Funeral Home with Kevin Sitton officiating. Burial followed in Alder Cemetery, near Stockton, under the direction of Bland-Hackleman Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were Ken Norman, Kurt Norman, Jordan Fletcher, Shannon Lowrey, Daniel Fletcher and Dan Cunningham.

Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital and left at the funeral home.
