Donna Christine Neely, 83, passed away on Dec. 6, 2023, in her home surrounded by her immediate family and an endless amount of love. Donna was born June 7, 1940, in Cedar County, to Stephen Edward and Madge Christine Coale. She graduated from El Dorado Springs High School in 1957. Donna was united in marriage to Lloyd Lee Neely on June 1, 1957, in El Dorado Springs. To this union three children were born, Renee Paarmann of Nevada, Teresa Neely of Middleton, WI, and Jason Neely of Kansas City.

Donna had the opportunity to travel and see many parts of the country while Lloyd was enlisted in the United States Army. She worked a variety of interesting jobs during this time, including as an Alaskan Fur Model. She also worked in management at Dunbrooke Sportswear Company for over 20 years until her retirement.

Donna loved spending time with her family and friends. She had impressive culinary skills, and was known for her homemade noodles, sauces, desserts and holiday candies. She kept her pantry well stocked and was always prepared to whip up a gourmet meal or dessert for anyone who stopped by. She loved gardening and was an avid reader until she lost her sight due to macular degeneration. She will be remembered for her kind and gentle nature and her generous heart. She was loved by all who met her.

Donna was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lloyd Lee Neely; and granddaughter, Tara Paarmann.

She is survived by her sister, Frances Marshall; brother Maynard Coale; two daughters, Renee Paarmann (Jim) and Teresa Neely (Tarisa); one son, Jason Neely (Christine); two grandsons, Aaron Cline and Keagan Paarmann; a great-grandson, Alexander Paarmann; a great-granddaughter, Lilith Garza; nieces, nephews and countless friends.

Thank you to the staff of Heartland Hospice Care and to Bailey Wheeler for enhancing her quality of life over the last year and for their support in helping us keep our mother at home.  This was the only thing she has asked of us – well, and that we will continue to love and support each other.

The family has requested donations be made in Donna’s name to Hackleman Cemetery

A service for Donna Neely was held on Sunday, Dec. 10, at Bland-Hackleman Funeral Home. Her final resting place is Hackleman Cemetery.
