Donna Fern (Vickers) Woody, 89, Lockwood, passed away Tuesday evening, April 11, 2023.  She was the daughter of Charles and Iva (Whitesell) Vickers and was born on May 25, 1933.  Donna was raised by Charles and Iva on a farm south of Dederick along with one brother, eight sisters and three half-brothers.

On Aug. 6, 1951 she married Floyd E. Woody of El Dorado Springs. After Floyd served a short time in the Air Force, the couple returned to El Dorado Springs to raise their son (Louis) and then increased their family with another son (Dennis). In the early 1960’s they started Woody’s Mobile Home Sales and Park which they operated until their retirement in the late 1990’s. Donna was a full partner in the operation of the business and greatly contributed to its success.

She was an active member of two fraternal organizations.  Donna became a Beneficial member of the Royal Neighbors of America, Valentine Chapter 2388 on May 1, 1963. Her membership continued until Dec. 2015. During this time she held many offices. These offices included Oracle (President) for seven terms between 1994 through 2008, inclusively.

On May 3, 1984 she was initiated into El Dorado Springs Chapter #148, Order of the Eastern Star. During her 35 years of membership, Donna served as Worthy Matron five times as well as holding several other offices. She was appointed as the District Deputy Grand Matron of  the 33rd District.

In addition to her service in fraternal organizations, Donna served the El Dorado Springs community in several other ways. She was dedicated to helping several local charitable organizations, served on the Park Board for several years and (along with Floyd) sponsored a team in the local softball league. She was one of the team’s most enthusiastic players.

Survivors include two sons and their spouses:  Louis and Susan Woody of Mt. Vernon, and Dennis and Yvonna Woody of rural El Dorado Springs;  grandchildren: Amber and Wes Ogle of Nevada, Autumn Woody of Nevada, and Matthew and Tiffany Woody of rural El Dorado Springs, and great-grandchildren:  Kennedy, Dillon, and Sawyer Ogle and Maggie and Waylon Woody.

Other survivors include many nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.

She was preceeded in death by her husband, Floyd, sister, Reta Gilpin of rural Dederick, as well as her mother, father, and eleven siblings.

Pallbearers were: Kelly Eck,  Cody Eck,  Chris Vickers, Matt Woody, Nick Woody and Wyatt Woody. Honorary pallbearers were her other nephews.

Services for Donna Woody were held April 15, at Sheldon Funeral Home in El Dorado Springs with Rev. Brent Bland officiating.  Burial will followed at Clintonville Cemetery under direction of Sheldon Funeral Home.
