Doyle Brent Beckman, 76, El Dorado Springs, was born in Kansas City, on Easter Sunday, April 6, 1947, to Roy and Gertrude Beckman.  Brent passed away April 24, 2023, at his home after a short illness. Doyle was known to his family and friends as Brent or “Grumpy.”

Brent and his parents moved several times because of work. They moved to west Texas when Brent was six and stayed about a year. The family moved back to Missouri, living in Noel, Peculiar and Nashua. When Brent’s dad retired in July 1962, the family moved to El Dorado Springs and bought a farm. Brent resided on the farm until his passing.

At age eleven, Brent took accordion lessons and bought his first accordion. Brent was a very talented musician and could play any instrument he wanted. Later in life, in his “free time,” Brent started his own band “Cheyenne Wind.” Many memories were made as the group often practiced in Brent’s home.

Brent attended El Dorado Springs High School and graduated in 1965. After graduation he enlisted in the US Navy for four years. Brent served in the Missouri National Guard and Missouri Naval Reserve. He then returned to the Missouri National Guard. He retired in 2007 as SFC and a veteran of the Vietnam and Iraqi wars. Brent selflessly spent 29 1⁄2 years in the military serving his country. Brent also worked as a maintenance supervisor at 3M Nevada, retiring after 34 years there.

In 1970, Brent was united in marriage to Barbara Scoggins of Stanton, TX. To this union two sons were born, Kyle Brent and James Roy.

In 2004, Brent was united in marriage to Shirley (Welton) Alexander. Through this union, Brent added two sons, Jamie and Bill and a daughter, Tonya “Sis.”

Preceding Brent in death were his parents, Roy and Gertrude; sons, Jim Beckman and Jamie Alexander; brother, Bud; and sisters, Iris, Wanda, and Rosann.

Brent is survived by his wife, Shirley, of the home; his children, Kyle Beckman of El Dorado Springs, Bill Alexander and his wife, Alison, of El Dorado Springs, Tonya Hooper and her husband, Alan, of El Dorado Springs; grandchildren: Rheaonna Green, Emma Beckman, Sage Beckman, Sydney Beckman, Shawn Eby and her husband, Nathan, Jerrod Alexander and his wife, Katie, Andrea Thomas and her husband, Rusty, Ashten Saur and her husband, Dakota, Kylie Alexander, Bret Alexander, Courtney Wosoba and her husband, Daniel, and Roy Hooper; and great-grandchildren: Sebastien, Brinley, Briar, Bo, Brax, Ava, Parker, Presly, Kanon, Paxtyn, Hudsyn, Brooke, Jennifer, Abbi Jean, Sara Mae, Beckham, and Lucah. Brent is also survived by many wonderful friends.

Brent was extremely intelligent and skilled. He could build or fix anything. He knew a lot about history and politics and loved to share his thoughts with a sheepish grin. His heart was big, and his door was always open to family and friends. Brent will be greatly missed.
