George Brent Barker

George Brent Barker, 76, passed away Friday, Sept 2, 2022. Brent was born July 22, 1946 in El Dorado Springs. He was the son of the late George and Ruth Barker. Brent was a graduate of El Dorado Springs HS in 1964 and University of Missouri in 1968.
Brent married his high school sweetheart, Barbara, in 1968. They moved to Denver, CO, their first year together for Brent’s job with Sears, where he worked for many years. He spent his last 20 years of his career in numerous sales positions selling collegiate clothing lines in Texas, Louisiana, Oklahoma and Arkansas. He retired in 2016 at the age of 70.
Brent is survived by his wife, Barbara Price Barker; daughter, Sara Weber, and her husband, Trent Weber, of Atlanta, GA; and his son, Seth Barker, of Dallas. He had four grandchildren, Jake and Cooper Weber and Alexa and Jack Barker.
Brent was an avid golfer. He enjoyed his time with family and friends. He was a member of the First Methodist Church wherever he lived. He was active in his children’s lives, coaching their soccer and baseball teams. He rarely missed a sporting event or performance for his grandchildren.
Brent was loved by all and never met a stranger. He had a terrific sense of humor and gave great advice. He loved his hometown and his family and friends who still live there. He took pride in its people and history.
