Glenna Mae West passed away at her home in El Dorado Springs on Tuesday, April 1, 2025.

She was born in Jennings, KS, on May 25, 1941 to Henry “Hank” and Minnie (Wente) Poppe. She had five siblings: Donald Ray, Gary, Shirley, Herbie and Bonnie Williams. When she was three, the family moved to Missouri. She graduated from the Stockton High School in 1960.

On Jan. 7, 1961, she married Charley West of Stockton. To this union, three children were born: Anita June, Jerry Wayne and Dale Ray (Aug. 31-Nov. 10, 1972).

She was saved and baptized with Anita in the Sac River near Caplinger Mills on a snowy day in November 1978.

She worked hard all her life. While living on the farm where her children were raised. Following her divorce in the 1980’s, she worked in the laundry of the Stockton nursing home and Hagels before moving to El Dorado Springs in 1992 to work at Dunbrook.

She passed on her love of giving and receiving homemade gifts, reading, nature and lifetime learning and her appreciation of creative talent to her kids. Also her love of music, especially country. She became a KC Chiefs fan late in life. She loved and grew many varieties of flowers.

She was known to all as a kind, caring woman and she made a difference in the lives of many. Her kids always knew she had their backs, assisting them in whatever way she could.

Glenna is survived by her daughter, Anita Berry (Joe Dean); her sister, Bonnie; an honorary son, Steve Stockton, several nieces and great-nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to thank her Hospice care team and her caregivers, Suzy, Tammy and Robin for the care and love they showed our loved one.

Her memorial service was officiated by Brent Bland on Sunday, April 6, at the Bland-Brumback Funeral Home followed by burial in the Freeman-Holsapple Cemetery.
