Harold Duaine Hughes, 82, El Dorado Springs, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 24, 2016. He was born Sept. 2, 1933, in Norton, KS, the son of Francis Hughes and Gertrude (Pittaway) Hughes.

Harold married Wanda Stroup on Nov. 26, 1961. They were married 41 years until Wanda’s passing in 2003. Four sons were born to their union.

Harold worked in the oil industry for Halliburton for 35 years. Six of those years were spent in Singapore. In 1988, he and Wanda bought a farm near El Dorado Springs and started building a house. They moved there when Harold retired in 1991. Harold raised cattle and operated a welding shop from the farm.

Preceding Harold in death were his wife, Wanda; his parents, Francis and Gertrude, his brothers, Dean and Howard; and his sister, Ethel.

Survivors include his four sons: Michael, James, Curt and Shane; granddaughters: Loretta, Sharla and Kristin; grandson, Eric; and several great-grandchildren.

Services were held Saturday, Aug. 27, in Stockton Assembly of God Church with Rev. Randy Hayward and Rev. James Coleman officiating. Interment followed in Pankey Cemetery under the direction of Bland-Hackleman Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were Shane Hughes, Curt Hughes, Jim Hughes, Steve Ellis and Danny Garrison.

Memorial donations may be made to El Dorado Christian School and left at the funeral home.
