James Paul Austin Jr., age 60, of El Dorado Springs,  passed away Friday, May 27, 2016.

He was born to James Paul Austin and Yulice Darlene (Acock) Austin on March 13, 1956, at Mather Air Force Base in Sacramento, CA. He attended school at various locations in the United States as well as overseas. He graduated from high school in Stockton in 1974.

Jim married Debra Whitesell, of El Dorado Springs, in 1974. To this union two children were born, Kristi Lea (Austin) Fugate of New Orleans, LA, and David Craig Austin of El Dorado Springs.

In November of 1997, Jim married Shannon Rae Burress of El Dorado Springs. They lived many happy years together until his untimely death.

Jim started working at 3M in Nevada at the age of 19. He retired after 40 years, on Dec. 31, 2015.

He enjoyed playing and spectating in sports, hunting, fishing and coaching baseball. He also enjoyed reading, watching movies, cooking and gardening.

Jim was preceded in death by his father, James Paul Austin; and his two brothers, Gregory Allen Austin and Raymond Luther Austin.

He is survived by his wife, Shannon, of the home; his children, Kristi Fugate and husband – Kirk and David Austin and wife – Terry; three grandchildren – Codey, Dayton and Hunter; his mother, Darlene; brother, Mike Avery; sister, Darla Arlint; and numerous nieces and nephews and a host of family and friends. He was loved by all and will be greatly missed.

A memorial service was held Thursday, June 2, in Sheldon Funeral Home, El Dorado Springs, with Rev. Brent Bland officiating. Music was “Amazing Grace” and “Go Rest High On That Mountain.” Interment was in Greenfield Cemetery, Jerico Springs.
