Jason Robert Humbird, 40, El Dorado Springs, passed away at home on Monday morning, Feb. 13, 2017. Jason was born Nov. 11, 1976, in Kansas City, the son of Robert F. Humbird (deceased) and Sue Humbird.

Jason spent the majority of his time with his significant other, Kat Meola. They spent their time fishing, camping and enjoying nature. Jason was gifted with a beautiful voice which he shared with his friends and family during his karaoke trips to the city. He enjoyed live music and dancing.

Jason’s spiritual guide was of Native American beliefs. He lived the life and ways of the Cherokee and believed there is no permanent death. On Feb. 13, he stepped into his next life to continue his journey. Those who were close to him, can remember him saying, “See you next time around.”

Preceding Jason in death were his paternal grandparents, Bill and Cleatus Humbird; maternal grandfather, Don Wright (Poppie Don); and his dad, Bob Humbird.

Survivors include his mother, Sue Humbird, of El Dorado Springs; his three children – Tressa Humbird, Isaac Humbird and Gracie Humbird of Lee’s Summit; sister, Stephanie Grisham, and family of Peculiar; brother, Darryle Humbird, of Independence; grandmother, Vera Wright, of Kansas City; and significant other, Kat Meola, of El Dorado Springs.

A Celebration of Life will begin at 1 p.m. Friday, Feb, 17, in the First Christian Church, El Dorado Springs.
