Jewell Braxten Helm, “JB”, 94, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Sept. 12, 2021, to join the love of his life, Betty May Friar Helm, of 75 years in the Kingdom of God.

JB was born on Aug. 18, 1927 in Harwood to William Thomas and Mary Elizabeth Helm. He served in the Army during WWII. After moving to Kansas City, JB began his life time career at Ford Motor Company.  He was a certified mechanic, avid card enthusiast and a mentor to many.  His natural abilities to literally fix anything was revered by all. JB and Betty had three children, Linda Jo, Landon Eugene and Joyce Laraine.

JB was known to all as a kind and loving man who knew no stranger. He made everyone laugh with his unique dialect of what we fondly call (“JBism’s). “By doggies!”

He is preceded in death by his brother, William Eugene Helm; parents, William Thomas, and Mary Elizabeth Ellis Helm; daughters, Linda Jo Burdick, Joyce Helm Gray and wife, Betty May Friar Helm.

Survivors include brother, Barnett Ellis Helm, Deerfield; son, Landon Eugene Helm and wife, Julie Selby Helm, Prior Lake, MN; sons in law, Jerry Burdick, and Scott Gray,  Kansas City. Six grandchildren: Jennifer Stewart, Parkville; Steven Burdick, Kansas City; Emily Vogl, Columbia; Hailey Helm Crundwell, Minneapolis, MN; Ryley Carlton, Chillicothe, and Keenan Gray, Kansas City. Four great-grandchildren: Sydney Stewart, Kansas City; Samantha Stewart, Parkville; Gus Vogl, Columbia, and Braxton Lewis Crundwell, Minneapolis, MN.

Services will begin at 10 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 20, outdoors at White Chapel Funeral Home, 6600 NE Antioch Rd, Gladstone, MO, 64119, officiated by Pastor Bob Baier. Interment to follow at El Dorado Springs Cemetery 300 W. Hainline Street, El Dorado Springs at 1:30 p.m. officiated by Pastor Ron Marsh.
