JoAn Stebbins, 83, formerly of Kansas City, passed away on Saturday, Aug. 21, 2021, in Anaheim Hills, CA, in the home she shared with Jim Barritt. Born in Roscoe, on Aug. 13, 1938, JoAn was the youngest child of Thomas and Grace (Taylor) Hendrickson.

She grew up in El Dorado Springs, graduating from El Dorado High School in 1956. She loved her school, keeping in frequent touch with a number of classmates until her death. She took great joy in organizing her class reunions for many years.

JoAn was united in marriage to Richard Stebbins on July 1, 1961, a union that produced two sons and 47 wonderful years until his death in 2008.

She was also fortunate to have made a large group of life-long friends during the 28 years she was employed by the Raytown School District, where she was the secretary at Spring Valley Elementary.

In 2015, JoAn reconnected with an old high school friend, Jim Barritt, and moved to Anaheim Hills. They were blessed to travel extensively and thoroughly enjoyed each other’s company for six years.

JoAn was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters.

She is survived by her beloved sister, Dorothy Hawkins, – El Dorado Springs. She is also survived by her two sons and their families, Rick and Jenny Stebbins, Ocala, FL; David and Denice Stebbins, Kansas City; four grandchildren, Nicole Stebbins(Joe Valdiviez), Kansas City; Emily Stebbins(Josh Taylor), Springfield; Jack and Eli Stebbins, Ocala, FL; one great-grandchild, Kash, Kansas City.

We would like to thank the entire Barritt family for their love and support during this difficult time. Per our mom’s wishes, there will be no service. Donations can be made to Caterina’s Club at caterinasclub.org.
