Leo William Bland, 96, passed away on Saturday, July 7, 2018, in Mt. Vernon. He was born in St. Clair County on Dec. 13, 1921, the son of George A. Bland and Mary (Roe) Bland.

He attended school at Johnson and El Dorado.

He married Hallie Tubbs on March 9, 1945, in Lindsay, CA. Leo and Hallie lived in California until 1948.  They bought the Cedar Springs grocery store in 1948 with Leo’s brother, Orval and, Allene. They sold the store in 1954. Leo retired from KAMO Electric in 1984 after 28 1/2 years.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his daughter, Sharon; five brothers; three sisters; and son-in-law, Rob Robertson,

Surviving are his wife, Hallie; daughter, Barbara Robertson; son-in law, Ed Triangolo; three grandchildren – Lindsey Anson, Camron Brewer and wife, Tiffany, and Jerimiah Brewer and fiancée, Jennifer, and son, Grayson; and one great-grandson, Sutton Brewer. Sutton and Papa were the best of buddies. Also surviving is one sister, Ellen Eslinger, and many nieces and nephews.

Leo was a member of the Church of God (Holiness) in El Dorado Springs where he attended as long as health permitted.

Services will be begin at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 12, in the El Dorado Springs Church of God (Holiness). The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until service time. Burial will follow in the El Dorado Springs City Cemetery under the direction of Bland-Hackleman Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be: Randy E. Bland, Larry Bland, Ronnie Bland, Kyle Bland, Lyle Bland and Kirk Bland. Honorary pallbearers will be G.A. Eslinger, Ronald Hubbard, Phillip Rutledge, Rick Dobbs, Dennis Greenwood and Braden Dodson.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Herriman Chapel Church Memorial Fund and left at the funeral home.
