Lester Leon Burres, 84, of El Dorado Springs, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, Sept. 25, 2020 at 12:35 p.m. He was born on September 1, 1936, in Larned, KS, to Chester and Bessie Burres.

Lester owned Les’s Quality Carpets in El Dorado Springs and installed flooring all his life prior to retirement. He then worked part-time for Bland-Hackleman Funeral Home. He attended the Blackjack Church of God (Holiness) in Blackjack. He had many hobbies, including making wood furniture for family and friends, fixing up antique vehicles for car shows, events, and parades, fishing, singing, playing the harmonica, and spending time with family and his cat, Sugar.

Preceding Lester in death were his wife and mother of his children, Shirley Ann Guyer Burres; son, Mark Burres; parents, Chester Charles Burres and Bessie Irene (Dorland) Burres Dolan; brother, Chester Charles Burres Jr.; and in-laws, Gerald and Virginia Bland and Junior and Leola Bland.

Survivors include his loving wife, Wilma (Bland) Burres, of the home; two sons, Randy Burres and wife, Trish, of Ingleside, IL, and Scott Burres of Poplar Bluff; daughter, Sherri Burres of Clinton; daughter-in-law, Kathy Burres of Harrisonville; two sisters, Pamela Homan and Joann Michael of Smithville; brother, Don Dolan of Raytown; six grandchildren – Casey and Corey Burres, Matt and Vanielle Burres, and Chase and Alindsey Burres; two step-grandchildren, Evan Calfee and Cayla Calfee Poore; 13 great-grandchildren; nieces, Karen Davis and husband, Nolan, and Kathy Davis and husband, Jim; and great-nieces: Britni, Tessa, and Brooke.

A private graveside service for Lester Burres was held  at the El Dorado Springs City Cemetery with Rev. Joe Dodson and Rev. Brent Bland officiating under the direction of Bland-Hackleman Funeral Home.
