Mary Herrman Eaton

It is with deep love and sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother and grandmother, Mary Herrman Eaton. Mary, 88, was born Jan. 11, 1938 to her parents Aloysis Nicholas Herrman and Elizabeth Depper Schmitt Herrman in Libenthal KS. Her grandparents, Jacob Herrman and Magdalene Schmitt had eight grandchildren and their last child was Aloysis. They immigrated from Germany to Russia in 1762-65. In 1875 they entered the United States  to Baltimore, Maryland. They then made their way to Kansas and completely settled in Libenthal, KS. Mary had three brothers (Victor, Edwin, Wendelin) and three sisters (Leona, Julie, Lucile). Her parents moved to Independence, MO, when Mary entered high school.

Mary is preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, and one sister, Leona; and husband, Joseph R. Eaton.

Mary Herrman Eaton passed away Monday, Sept. 14, 2026.

She devoted her life to the people she loved most, her husband, Joseph Eaton, daughter, Debbie Wosoba, son-in-law John Wosoba and two previous grandchildren, Tressa and Sean Wasoba. Her granddaughter, Tressa married Travis Burchett on Oct. 12, 2019. Travis became a wonderful grandson-in-law to her. She has two sisters living, Julie and Lucille. Among her family are several nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great great nieces and nephews.

She had a beautiful way of making the people around her feel loved and cared for. Whether through a kind word, a helping hand, a warm smile, or simply being there when she was needed.

As a wife, she shared a lifetime of love and memories with her husband, Joseph Eaton. They met and married three months later June 12, 1954 in Independence MO. They were married for 59 years with his passing April 22, 2018.

As a mother, she cherished her daughter, Debbie, and took great pride in the woman she became. Her daughter, Debbie, married John Wosoba on July 6, 1974. She welcomed her son-in-law with love and treasured John as part of the family. She found a special kind of happiness in her two grandchildren whose lives she touched with a love they will carry with them forever.

May she rest peacefully, surrounded forever by the love she gave so generously to others.

Services will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 26, at Bland Hackleman Funeral Home, El Dorado Springs, MO.
