Mary Nora Mae (Alexander) Chaney, 88, passed away April 21, 2022. She was born to Lawrence and Rachel (Maschewski) Alexander on Feb. 11, 1934 in St. Clair County. Nora attended school for eight years at Blue Ridge School and four years at El Dorado Springs High School, graduating in 1952. She went to work at Hallmark Cards where she met her husband, Lee Roy Chaney. They were married in Parker, AZ, on Jan. 25, 1954 then moved to Long Beach, CA, after Lee joined the Navy. To this union, son, Kevin Lee, and daughter, Kelly Lynn, were born. Nora worked for Schwabacker Frey Automobile Owners Association and 30 years at Government Employees Hospital Association where she retired due to heath concerns in 1993 to join her husband, Lee at their farm. Nora helped with fencing, cutting wood, gardening and raising steers in the summertime.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Lee; son, Kevin; brothers, Cletis Lloyd Alexander, Clarence Alexander and Ronald Alexander; sisters, Ruth Marie Davis, Donnie Lou Alexander and Edith Alexander.
Survivors include her daughter, Kelly Chaney – Lee’s Summit; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; sister, Wanda Pickerall and brother, Lawrence Alexander.
Services for Nora Chaney will begin at 10 a.m. Friday, April 29, at Bland-Hackleman Funeral Home with burial to follow in the El Dorado Springs City Cemetery under the direction of Bland-Hackleman Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 9 a.m. until service time on Friday, April 29.
