Nellie Mae Cox, 78, El Dorado Springs, passed away Thursday, June 27, 2024, at her home unexpectedly.

Nellie was born July 27, 1945, in Wheatland, MO, to Delmar Freeland and his wife, Ottavia. She graduated from East High School in 1963 and on Nov, 30, 1963, she married Frank Lee Cox in Kansas City, MO. Together they raised six children. Nellie was a homemaker and had also been a truck driver along with her husband. She was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in El Dorado Springs.

Nellie loved spending time with those she loved surrounded by family. Nellie had a strong conviction and love for Jesus. She spent many hours in prayer for her loved ones to find the joy she found in the Lord! She will be deeply missed and remembered by so many until we all meet her again on that beautiful shore.

Nellie leaves behind her husband of 60 years, Frank Cox; children, Cheryl Jeffries and husband, Brent, Olathe, KS, Chris Barnes and husband, Jay, El Dorado Springs, Missie Bechard, Springfield, MO, and Shannon Cox, El Dorado Springs; brothers, Joe Freeland, and his wife, Charlotte, Ava, MO, David Jordan and his wife, Marsha, Lee Summit, MO; sisters, Darlene Leas, Kansas City, MO, Carol Cooper and husband, Jerry, Flemington, MO, Otavia Carter and husband, Kevin, Lone Jack, MO and Sandra Barnette and husband, Larry, Reed Springs, MO. Additional survivors include grandchildren, Kayleigh, Sean, Lawson, Kelsey, Ashton, Lauren, Brandon, Adam, Evan, Jamee, Taylor, Trey, Noa, Ashley, and Lauren; great-grandchildren Jaiden, Lennex, Jocelyn, Thorin, Trek, Tegan, Walker, Maverick, Rory, Barrett, Emma, Olivia, Halstyn and Harlow.

Preceding her in death were her parents; a brother, Delmar Freeland, a son, James Cox and a daughter, Wendy Mabrey.

A Celebration of Life will be 2 p.m. Saturday, July 27, at First Assembly of God Church, El Dorado Springs.
