Nelson ‘Gene’ Edmiston

Nelson Eugene Edmiston, 87, went home to his Lord and Savior on Nov. 3, 2018. Nelson, known as “Gene” by most, was born March 6, 193, in Stockton, the son of George and Ada (Perkins) Edmiston.

Gene joined the Navy in 1947 at the age of 17. That is also when he met and married his wife, Margaret Jean Messenger, in 1953 at Great Lakes, IL. To this union six children were born: David, Derick, Donna, Diane, Dennis and Damon.

Through the years Gene worked in the trucking industry, heavy equipment, logging and small engine repair.

He enjoyed quail hunting, woodworking and gardening.

Preceding Gene in death were: his wife, Peg; daughter, Diane Hines, and her husband, Bill Hines; and grandson, Trevor Edmiston.

Gene leaves behind four sons: David, Derick, Dennis and Damon; one daughter, Donna; one sister, Betty Bledsoe; two nephews, Mike and Mark Bledsoe; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A graveside memorial service will begin at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 10, in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Bland-Hackleman Funeral Home.
