Peggy Joann Oberly, 77, daughter of G.L and Opal (Todd) Bowen, was born Nov. 15, 1939 in Filley. She passed away March 27, 2017, in Appleton City.

Peggy graduated from El Dorado Springs High School in 1957 and lived at home until her marriage to Dan Oberly on Feb. 20, 1959 in Filley West Church.

She loved being a farm wife and working outdoors. Vegetable and flower gardening were two of her favorite pastimes.  Peggy was a gifted artist and she loved music.  She played several different instruments but enjoyed piano, guitar and saxophone the most.

In 2003 Peggy traveled with a group to Uruguay where they helped build a church.

She was a member of the Osage Community Ladies Club in Taberville and also enjoyed coupon trading with a group in El Dorado Springs.

In later years Peggy and Dan sold a piece of land to a group for a duck hunters club. She had continued to watch after the area and clean their camping trailer before each hunting season began as long as she was able.
