Richard Colin (R.C.) Hoover, 76, passed away Sunday, Feb. 20, 2022 at Freeman Health Institute in Joplin. R.C. was born July 30, 1945 in Butler to John Marcus and Idell (Sherman) Hoover.
R.C. grew up in Butler and graduated from Butler High School class of 1963.
He held many jobs throughout his life but the majority of the time he worked in construction building custom homes. He was a US Army veteran.
On May 26, 1979 R.C. married Lois Martin. They lived in Waco, TX, while the children were in school. He coached their Little League Softball teams and never missed their ball games, track meets or band concerts. His greatest joy was being Dad and Grandpa.
Later they moved to Ozark and finally to their place on the hill at El Dorado Springs. R.C. loved to travel, he and Lois spent four happy years being full time nomads.
R.C. is survived by wife, Lois, of the home; daughters, Brenda Hoffman (Andy) , Brooksville, FL, Janet MacNealy (Gene Buchs), Lutz, FL, Jill Shinault (Kevin Connell), Gunter, TX, and son, Darrin Hoover (Teresa), Kyle, TX; grandchildren, Kristen Szala, Jesse Mauk, Kadie Whalen, Andy Hoffman, Ryan Hoffman, Christina Preiss, Michael Preiss, Hailey MacNealy, Scott Shinault, Kymberli Burkett, Savanna Polasek, Richard Hoover, Clayton Hoover, Bonnie Hoover, Sofia Hoover, Diego Hoover and 12 great-grandchildren; one brother, Gary Hoover (Esther) and sister-in-law, Norma Hoover, nieces, nephews and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by parents; sister, Marcia Phillips; brothers, Marcus Hoover, Jr. and Clyde Hoover and grandson, John Hoffman.
A Celebration of Life is being planned for a later date.
