Robert “Bob” Clayton Burris was born on Nov. 8, 1932, in Parsons, KS, to Cloy and Ruby (Bartlett) Burris.  He passed away on Monday, May 17, 2021.

Bob spent his early childhood in Osage, OK, and returned to Parsons, KS, where he graduated from Parsons High School.  Growing up he pitched for Ban Johnson and American Legion baseball teams. He attended Parsons Junior College and Pittsburg State. During the Korean conflict he was a member of the U.S. Army, traveling through Europe playing baseball.

In 1952, Bob married Claudine Bayless, his high school sweetheart. He joined the printing firm of Va-Co-Hy in 1959, in Girard, KS, where he began his career in the printing business.  He later was part-owner of Ace Business Forms in Pittsburg, KS. He and Claudine moved to El Dorado Springs, in 1976 when Bob became Sales Manager of Witt Printing.

Bob was a devoted Christian and most recently an active member of The Church of the Nazarene in El Dorado Springs.  He was a supporter of the Wounded Warriors Project and many other community endeavors.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents and an infant brother; mother-in-law, Pearl, and father-in-law, Courtney Dodd, of El Dorado Springs.

He is survived by his wife of almost sixty-nine years, Claudine (Bayless), and daughter, Christi Burris, both of El Dorado Springs. He is also survived by Drs. David and Mary Ann Amos, Courtney and (David) Buchmann of Prairie Village, KS, Joshua and (Naomi) Amos of Denver, CO, and Drs. Luke and (Lauren) Amos of Prairie Village, KS; and grand nieces including Helena Buchmann, Olivia, Athena and Clair Amos.

Services were Saturday, May 22, at Sheldon Funeral Home, El Dorado Springs under the direction of Ministers, Rev Wendell Daniel and Rev. Bill Whetstone.

Music was “I’ll Fly Away” and “The Statue Of Liberty” by Jay & Julie Jennings.

Casketbearers: Dr. David Amos, Mr. David Buchman, Mr. Joshua Amos, Mr. Kurt Ziegler, Dr. Luke Amos and Mr. Ron Brown.

Honorary casketbearers: Terry Proctor, Orville Cooper, Larry West, Jim Schneider, Gary Mahnken, Gary Wall, Ken Haggard and Dr. Andy Wyant.

Interment was by the United States Army and VFW Post #257 Sunday, May 23, at Memorial Lawn Cemetery, Parsons, KS.
