Roberta Pauline (Sallee) Oder was born Feb.y 5, 1935, in Eldorado Springs, Missouri to Paul and Alma (Mann) Sallee.
She grew up in Wichita, KS, and graduated from Wichita East High School. Roberta attended Wichita State University with a major in Accounting, graduating with honors in 1957. After graduating from college, she went to work in Chicago, IL, as an accountant with Arthur Andersen & Co. and became licensed as a Certified Public Accountant in Illinois.
While in Chicago, she met and married her husband, Donald Rudd Oder. After moves to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and then to San Juan, Puerto Rico related to her husband’s career, Roberta and her husband moved back to Chicagoland and bought a house in Deerfield, IL, where they lived for many years. During her time of suburban living, Roberta went back to college and earned a degree in Computer Information Systems from College of Lake County in Grayslake, IL. She made a happy home for her husband and three children. She was a good mother and a great cook.
She served the community as a volunteer at Rush University Medical Center, working many hours at the university bookstore. She enjoyed going to the theater with her husband and exercising her mind with crossword puzzles and great literature. If she had ever been a contestant on Wheel of Fortune, she would certainly have been the big winner.
Roberta died Dec. 25, 2020 at age 85 in Chicago, IL. She is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Donald Rudd Oder of Chicago, IL; two sons, Joseph Rudd Oder of Lake Bluff, IL, and Karl Lyndon Oder of Grayslake, IL (wife, Elizabeth); daughter, Jennifer Susan White of Roswell, NM, (husband Lee), two grandsons, Ryan Chechani, MD of San Antonio, TX, and Ulises Saldana of Grayslake, IL; three granddaughters, Asha Chechani of Austin, TX, Simi Chechani of Roswell, NM, and Jasmin Saldana of Grayslake, IL; and two sisters, Judy McKimmey of Williamsburg, VA, and Rena Leutschaft of Bloomington, MN.
Roberta was preceded in death by her mother, father and sister, Virginia Severns.
