Ronald Kyle Gay, 57, El Dorado Springs, passed away on Saturday, July 16, 2016, in Cox South in Springfield. Ronald was born Aug. 30, 1958, in Kansas City to Teddy Kyle and Doris Virginia (McTernon) Gay.
On July 31, 1982, in Parkville he was united in marriage to Lisa Gale Downing and she survives of the home. Each and every day of their life together Ronald told Lisa that he loved her and how beautiful she was.
Ron enjoyed working around the home. He was a talented carpenter who was exceptional at trim and finish work. He loved working construction.
Ron owned and worked on classic cars.
Throughout his life he enjoyed camping, going to the lake, classic movies, vintage music and animals and was a “master griller”.
Ronald was a devoted loving husband and a good son to his mother. He was a tenderhearted, compassionate man who thought the sun rose and set on his numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife Lisa, he is survived by his cats, Libby (LIBERTY BELLE GAY) and Sheldon. He scraped Libby up off Hwy. 54 on Sept. 11, 2001. He saved Sheldon from near death from dehydration by force-feeding fluids the first night and then bottle fed Sheldon kitten formula every two hours for three weeks until he was able to eat. Ron had a big heart and couldn’t stand to see animals, children or anyone suffer.
Ron was preceded in death by his mother, Doris Gay; father, Teddy Kyle Gay; mother-in-law, Margy (Matlock) Downing; father-in-law, Oliver R. Downing; and sisters-in-law, Ruby (Downing) Sorrell and Susan Downing.
There will be two memorial services:
One will begin at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, July 31, in Park Street Christian Church, El Dorado Springs.
The second memorial service will begin at 4:00 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 7, in Kansas City Northland: Hope Fellowship Baptist Church, 8350 North Conant Avenue, Kansas City, MO.
