Rose Marie (Leonard) Smith, 85, El Dorado Springs, passed away June 3, 2021, in Mercy Hospital. Rose was born Feb. 12, 1936, to Johnnie and Edna (Schmidt) Leonard.

She was saved and a member of the Concord Missionary Baptist Church.

Rose was a hard-working woman who wore many hats in life, from daughter, sister, wife, mom, grandmother and great- grandmother. She held a variety of job titles. She started work life at her parents’ store in Cedar Springs while she was a teenager and young adult. She then moved on to work at the Shoe Factory in El Dorado Springs as a shoe model. Then finally Rose would go to work at 3M and retire.

Some of Rose’s favorite hobbies were cross stitching and gardening. She loved to make her cross-stitch work into quilts for her family and friends. Rose loved her family, Jesus Christ and living a simple life.

Rose met Charles Lee Smith at the store her parents owned while she was working there. They were later married on June 6, 1954. They had three beautiful children – Christina (Tina), Charles Neil (Neil) and Terry Smith.

Rose was preceded in death by Johnnie and Edna Leonard; Charles Lee, Neil and Terry Smith and her sister, Virgie Francis.

Survivors include: brother, Jerl Leonard; daughter,Tina Keith, and husband, Charles; daughter-in-law, Ingrid Smith; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and many relatives.

Services began at 10 a.m. Monday, June 7, in Bland-Hackleman Funeral Home with Bro. DeWayne Burdette officiating. Burial followed in Lebeck cemetery under the direction of Bland-Hackleman Funeral Home.
