Ruby Lucille (Norman) Fields

Ruby Lucille (Norman) Fields, 90, El Dorado Springs, passed away peacefully on  Friday, July 18, 2025, at Community Springs Healthcare Facility.

Ruby was born Jan. 14, 1935, in Cedar County, MO, to Jake Willis and Edith (Metcalf) Norman. She attended El Dorado Springs School and graduated with the Class of 1952. On Oct. 16, 1954, she married Forest C. “Frosty” Fields in El Dorado Springs. They were blessed with one son, Gregory D. Fields.

Ruby’s career was dedicated to serving others as a bookkeeper and receptionist for Lyle Conway and Bill Neale. Forest and Ruby were lifelong residents of El Dorado Springs, where Ruby was very active in the Cedar County Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. Ruby’s generation is known as “The Greatest Generation” and their contribution to society, which is impeccable and priceless.

After her sister, Verda, passed away from cancer at a young age, Ruby traveled to Georgia to care for Verda’s children, Cheryl and Charles (“Chuck”). Though still young herself, Ruby showed the kind of love and selflessness that would define her entire life.

Forest and Ruby attended church faithfully in their later years and ensured their relationship was intact with their Lord for this life and for eternity.

Ruby was preceded in death by her parents, Jake Willis and Edith (Metcalf) Norman; her beloved husband, Forest Fields; son, Gregory Fields; brothers, Harry Norman and John C. Norman; sister, Verda “Parsley” Norman; and her nephew Charles “Chuck” Parsley; great-nephew, Darrin McCollough.

Their son, Greg, passed away tragically in 1986. Although their lives were never the same, they trusted in God to give them grace and held them steady.

Ruby is survived by her brother, Willis J. Norman and his wife, Suzanne Norman; their children: Jeff Norman and his wife, Sana Norman, Brian Norman and his wife, Marigale Norman, and Angela and her husband, Chad; grandnephews and grandnieces: Jenna Norman, Malea Norman, Kahea Norman, Marisa Norman, Shalena Norman, Joshua Norman, Colton, Tyler and Makenna; and great-grandnephews and great-grandnieces: Ava, Julian, and Elijah.

She is also survived by the family of her late brother, John C. Norman, including his daughter, Carolyn Daugherty, and her husband, David Daugherty; their children: Stephanie Malicoat, Shea Lawrence and her husband, Andy Lawrence, and Johanna Springer and her husband, David Springer; grandchildren: Jacob Malicoat and his wife, Logan Malicoat, Nathan Malicoat and his wife, Angie, Miriam Lawrence, Daniel Lawrence, Andrew Lawrence, Samuel Lawrence, Ayden Springer and Aryana Springer; and great-grandchildren: Emilia Malicoat and Violet Malicoat.

From the family of her late sister, Verda Parsley, she is survived by Cheryl McCollough and her husband, Gary McCollough; their son Jason McCollough and his wife, Monique McCollough; grandchildren: Kayla and her husband, Chris, Madylin, and Jake; as well as the children of her late nephew, Charles “Chuck” Parsley: Shauna Parsley and Chad Parsley.

Ruby’s exemplary life and testimony are forever embedded in our minds and hearts, and may her legacy give all of us new and renewed purpose and ability to press onward and upward.

Services will be held at 2 p.m.  Saturday, July 26, at Bland-Hackleman Funeral Chapel, 3130 East Hwy. 54, El Dorado Springs. Burial will follow at El Dorado City Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association.
