Scotty Junior Scott, 82, El Dorado Springs, passed away in his home Wednesday,  Dec. 31, 2025.

Scotty was born January 19, 1943, in Chillicothe, MO, to Bert and Frances Scott. He was the youngest of 13 children. From an early age, Scotty learned the value of hard work, often hunting to help provide food for his family. What began as necessity grew into a lifelong love of the outdoors, one he proudly passed on to his son, grandson and great-grandson.

He married the love of his life on Dec. 14, 1966. From this union, two children were born, Tracy Dawn and Kevin Dale.

Scotty worked a variety of odd jobs over the years before starting out with Art Davis, digging basements and hauling dirt. Eventually, he went into business for himself hauling gravel. He was well known as the man who could lay the smoothest driveway and move more rock with his foot than most could with a shovel.

You could often find Scotty at a local restaurant or coffee shop, enjoying a cup of coffee or a bite to eat. With his buddies like John Reynolds and Lynn (legs) Gilbert. He always had an ear to listen or a story to tell and genuinely enjoyed visiting with family, friends, locals and waitresses alike. When asked how he was doing, his trademark reply was always, “Not worth a damn.”

Scotty was blessed to meet four grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.

Scotty was preceded in death by his daughter, Tracy Scott; his wife, Janice Scott; his parents; and 11 siblings.

He is survived by his sister, Betty Snyder of Kansas City, MO; son, Kevin Scott (Falen) of El Dorado Springs; grandson, Brandon Scott (Carmen) of El Dorado Springs; granddaughter, Shastyn Kettermann of Kansas City, MO; grandson, Kellan Scott (Angelina) of Springfield, MO; grandson, Kaden Scott (Gracee) of Golden City, MO; great-granddaughter, Madi Scott (Donavon) of El Dorado Springs; great-grandson, Braxon Scott of El Dorado Springs; great-great-grandson, Kayson Anderson; great-great-granddaughter, Karsyn Anderson; and numerous nieces and nephews who loved him dearly.

He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Scotty’s legacy lives on through the values he taught, the stories he told, the hard work he believed in and the love he gave so freely to his family and all who knew him.

Services for Scotty were held Sunday, Jan. 4, at Bland-Hackleman Funeral Home. He was laid to rest in Love Cemetery.
