Sharon Rae Wood (Lovelace), 79, El Dorado Springs, passed away Saturday May 18, 2024. She was born in Watertown, NY on Feb. 24, 1944 to Eradina Wilmart and Victor Lovelace. Raised in the Troy and the Green Island areas of New York State, she graduated from Green Island’s Heatley High School in 1962.

Sharon was keenly interested in learning and education and that never stopped even in her later years. Sharon met and fell in love with a young man who lived nearby and eventually married him, David Wood, in June of 1963. He was also someone with an interest in learning new things and sharing adventures. Her keen interests led her to include learning sign language as a young woman so that she could use it to help others. Her favorite type of education though was a deep study of the Bible which led to her decision of dedication to God and to her baptism as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses in 1969.

Sharon lived in many areas of the United States and loved all the traveling experiences she had with her family throughout the years, some of which were in remote places like the wilderness of Alaska and the plains of North Dakota, very near the Canadian border. Some of their remote homes were chosen so that Sharon and her husband could teach others about God’s word through their volunteer ministry.

She also loved camping and she loved vacation planning. She was often planning, cooking, sewing, crocheting or making lists of things to bring on trips as well as spending time scrapbooking and preparing photo albums of her family’s adventures.

She dearly loved her husband of 58 years, her children, the Bible, cats, goats, garages sales and sitting down with a friend or two and a good cup of coffee.

fter retirement Sharon and Dave settled in a rural home located in El Dorado Springs, and that was her favorite place of all. She made many dear friends there and loved visiting with them and sharing meals. She enjoyed her “El Do” home, from the big tree outside her window to the deer and wildlife that roamed through her yard and the big pond out back.

Sharon was pre deceased by her husband, David K Wood (1942-2021). She is survived by her four children; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Her daughter, Lynda Hoghoughi (Wood), husband, Reza Hoghoughi and their son, Daniel Hoghoughi and his wife, Logan; her son, Roger Wood, wife, Lorena, their daughter, Mariah Wood, great grandson, Leo Roberts and Mariah’s fiancé, Jeffrey Roberts; their son, Devin Wood; her son, Mitchell Wood, wife, Jolena and their children; Austin, Blake, Cheyenne and Ivy; and her son, Tristen Wood.

Her smile and life lessons will continue on and be talked about, but for now she sleeps peacefully. Through all the ups and downs, a verse she held dear can always be on our minds:

Acts 24:15 – “And I have hope toward God, which hope these men also look forward to, that there is going to be a resurrection of both the righteous and the unrighteous.”

A memorial service will be held on Saturday June 1st at 4pm CST at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 3180 State Hwy. 32, El Dorado Springs, MO 64744

Remote guests may attend via Zoom. Meeting ID: 850-3341-9786. Passcode: 303704
