Steven Douglas Huckaby Sr., 75,EI Dorado Springs, passed away early Wednesday, July 5, 2017, after a lingering illness. He was born in Manila, AR, on Aug. 7, 1941, the first child of John Bassett Huckaby and Mildred Kathryn (Owens) Huckaby.

Steve was raised by his maternal grandparents, Clara Lintz Owens and William Owens, and grew up with his young aunt, Shirley. While living with his grandparents, he traveled to several states, attending school wherever they could find work.

He was an over-the-road trucker for many years. After retirement he enjoyed spending time on his farm with his grandchildren, dogs and horses. He was a good neighbor, he never knew a stranger and was always ready to give a helping hand when it was needed.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Clara and William Owens; parents, John and Mildred Huckaby; two brothers, Jerry Huckaby and Leslie Huckaby; his son, John Douglas Huckaby, and his son-in-law, Russell McGraw.

He is survived by his wife, Sharion Kay (Lamb) Huckaby; his children – Steve Huckaby Jr, Jeanne Huckaby, Rob Lamb (April) and Teressa Huckaby McGraw; six brothers – Larry Huckaby (Jacque), Donald Huckaby, Alan Huckaby (Cindy), James Huckaby (Laura), Mike Huckaby and Ron Huckaby (Diane); and one sister, Lynda Huckaby Bishop (Bill).

Steve had 12 grandchildren – Misty Marshall Mullaney (Michael), Jonathan Marshall, Launi Baderdeen, Steven Travis Huckaby, Eddie Long, Steven Lamb, Nick Lamb, Matt Lamb, Nate Lamb, Micah Moore, Catherine McGraw, Natalie Bums and Logan Loomis; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Pa will be missed by his family, nieces, nephews and many friends.

A memorial services was held Sunday, July 9, in Sheldon Funeral Home, El Dorado Springs, with Pastor Dennis Johnston officiating. Music was “Farther Along,” “Go Rest High On That Mountain,” “On The Wings Of A Dove,” “Who’s Going To Fill My Shoes When I’m Gone” and “Amazing Grace.”

Final disposition was cremation.
