Timothy Lucien Carter, 74, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 12, 2023 at Mercy Hospital in Joplin surrounded by family. He was a beloved husband, father, papa, coach and friend to many.

Tim was born Feb. 23, 1949 in El Dorado Springs to Lucien and RosaBelle Carter. He graduated from El Dorado Springs High School in the Class of ‘67. He attended Southwest Baptist College where he met the love of his life, Peggy Whited. They were united in marriage on July 30, 1972, in Louisburg. They were life-long residents of El Dorado Springs where they raised their three daughters.

While attending college he joined the Army National Guard and was active for six years. During those years he worked at Carter’s Market and for the Missouri Department of Conservation at the Schell-Osage Conservation Area. In the late 70s he began working at 3M in Nevada where he held many positions including the Mix and Mill #1 Operator Color Matcher. He retired from 3M in 2005.

Tim will be remembered for being an encouraging t-ball, softball, and baseball coach. He was a member and deacon at Park Street Christian Church. He was an avid outdoorsman who found himself in a deer stand, duck blind, or on a fishing bank whenever he had time. In his most recent years he was devoted to his many grandchildren, attending sporting events, school ceremonies, and any other events to show his love and how proud he was of them.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lucien Carter and RosaBelle (Harvey) Carter; sister, Rosalie “Ann” Stebbins; granddaughter, Lanie Ann Watkins; and son-in-law, Travis Bryson. He will be significantly missed by his wife of 51 years, Peggy; daughters, Kelly Bryson – El Dorado Springs, Amy (Rusty) Pittsenbarger – Lamar, and Tessie (Brandon) Watkins – El Dorado Springs; grandchildren, Isabelle, Olivia and Sophia Bryson, Ethan (Sydney), Cora and Trey Pittsenbarger, Sadie, Anna and Carter Watkins; brother-in-law, Albert, and many other cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 17, at Park Street Christian Church, El Dorado Springs. Services will begin at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 18, at the same location.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Show-Me Christian Youth Home or Camp Galilee.
