Verla Mae Hydeman 1cc

Verla Mae Hydeman, 88, of Lenexa, KS, went home to be with Our Lord, Sunday, July 3, 2016.

Verla was born Feb. 7, 1928 to the late Albert Alvin and Erma Esta Boultinghouse in Cedar County.

After moving to Kansas City from Cedar County, Verla married Edward Eugene Hydeman on May 23, 1947.  She and Ed shared 42 years together in a loving marriage and raised three beautiful children – Doug, Debbi and Coleen.  Ed and Verla sent their children to Kansas City Christian School growing up.

Several years after Edward passed away she married Earl A. Thompson.

She was an active member of First Baptist Church of Shawnee for many years and current member of Lenexa Baptist Church.  She was a faithful wife and a loving Mother who taught her children to follow God’s word.

Verla was preceded in death by her parents; all her siblings and their spouses; her husband, Edward; Edward’s brother, Don, and wife, Doris, and her second husband, Earl Thompson.

She was a joy to all the people in her life.

Verla is survived by her three children – Douglas Hydeman and wife, Debby; Deborah Lea and husband, Mike Swirczynski; Coleen and husband, Chris Bennett; 12 grandchildren and 16 great- grandchildren.

Visitation will be 9:30 to 11 a.m. Thursday, July 7, in Lenexa Baptist Church, 15320 W. 87th St. Pkwy, Lenexa.  Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. in the church.  Verla will be laid to rest in Shawnee Mission Memory Gardens.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer’s Association-Heart of America Chapter 3846 W. 75th St. Prairie Village, KS 66208.
