Virginia M. “Ginny” Hartwig, 76, of Higginsville, died on Wednesday, May 25, 2016, in Warrensburg Manor Care Center.
Born Sunday, Aug. 20, 1939, in Missouri Valley, IA, she was the daughter of the late Steve Leroy Stebbins and the late Eunice Plouch Stebbins. She married Bruce E. Hartwig on Feb. 1, 1985.
She lived most of her life in Higginsville. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. She worked at Western Electric in Kansas City, until retiring in 1991. She was an avid bowler and bingo player and loved to play golf.
Surviving are her husband, Bruce; two sons, Doug Darnell – El Dorado Springs and Rusty (Barbara) Darnell – Ozark; two step-daughters, Kim (Steve) Bell – Higginsville and Karla (Michael) Herrington – Leawood, KS; one brother, Albert (Ann) Stebbins – El Dorado Springs; five sisters – Betty Thomas – El Dorado Springs, Cathy Geraci – San Jose, CA, Vinnie Langford – Clinton, Elaine (Vince) Lazo – Danville, CA and Delorus Navarrette – Omaha, NE; 14 grandchildren; and 13 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, seven brothers, seven sisters and one grandson.
A funeral service was held Tuesday, May 31, in Immanuel Lutheran Church with the Pastor Marcus Jauss officiating, Donna Owen, organist. Interment was in City Cemetery, Higginsville.
Family received friends from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Tuesday at the church. Family suggest memorials to Lafayette County Cancer Coalition, P.O. Box 88 Higginsville, MO 64037.
Casket bearers were the grandchildren.
