Zena “Zee” Mae (McClanahan) Mills, 92, formerly of Schell City, was born in Roscoe, MO, to Clarence and Gladys McClanahan. Zee passed away in her hometown of Salinas, CA. Zee was the 5th of 12 children. She moved from Schell City, MO. to Monterey, CA, in 1952, where she met and married William (Bill) Davidson. She and Bill had four daughters.

She and her husband owned and operated Bill and Zee’s Moss Landing Inn. She worked at the Italian Villa for 17 years, was a member of the Culinary Union, worked at the American Legion Post 589 and Post 31 for many years, lifetime member of Disabled American Veterans and member of the American Legion Women’s Auxiliary for over 30 years.

Zee was preceded in death by her oldest daughter, Debra Lynn Davidson; her mother and father; stepfather, Raymond; brothers: Clint, Ray and Dave; sisters: June, Viola (Sugie) and Elma (Winkie).

She is survived by her three daughters: Jayme (Charles) of Salinas, Billie Barsotti of Lake Havasu City, AZ, and Vickie (John) Verhines of Salinas; six grandchildren: Billy, Brooke, Brandon, Trent, Tucker and Blake, eight great-grandchildren; 2 brothers, Mac and Gary; three sisters, Noma, Nova, and Sharon; and many nieces and nephews.

A graveside memorial service for Zee will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 28,  at Greenlawn Cemetery, Schell City, under the direction of Bland-Hackleman Funeral Home.
