Spoonbiling is good and getting better. The river is coming up at just the right time. There’s a group here from Texas and Oklahoma that’s been meeting here for 20 or 30 years. They just snagged three in the past hour that averaged about 50 lbs.

Snaggers are catching spoonbills from Taberville to Hwy. 71.

It will be really good next week. You will be able to even catch them from the bank.

Blue cats are biting. They

have bit all winter.

The tornado that went over Walker picked up and went right over Dains Fish Farm. It would have wiped us out.

We are open from 8 a.m. until 7 p.m. Closed Mondays.

Caplinger Woods

There was no answer to my several phone calls and no response to the message I left at 417/276-3838. A fisherman who lives near Caplinger Woods told me the water level was elevated in the Osage River which he thought would make it very difficult to have any fishing success off the bridge. KL

I haven’t seen anybody go out all week except a husband and wife. They caught some white bass. They didn’t say where.

I’ve seen three people back down the ramp, look at the water and leave.

Jeremy Stapp, our guide, went to Texas to fish a crappie tournament that got rained out. He hasn’t been out here all week either. He has a regular job.

Our hours are 8-5.

It’s been horrible conditions all week. I haven’t heard of anybody catching fish. The lake is treacherous.

There’s a tournament here next week. One guy who rented a slip hasn’t been out all week. On Saturday, people who were here to fish the tournament are leaving except a few diehards.

Our hours are 9-5.
