ROGERS TEAM WINS STATE CRAPPIE TOURNAMENT – Last Saturday, Aug. 17, Matthew Rogers and his dad, El Dorado Springs City Manager Bruce Rogers, won the Missouri State Crappie Masters Championship for 2019 on Lake Truman. They actually took second in this tournament with seven fish that weighed 10.39 lbs. and a $2,500 prize, but finished in first place for the year in the Missouri State Championship series. Last year, Matthew and a diferent partner won the national championship in another tournament series. Matt’s electronics are so precise he can locate a single fish (usually a big fish) on a piece of structure. Every one of the 41 boats in this tournament weighed seven fish. Matthew and Bruce were only 1.16 lbs. out of first place to a couple who had the big fish for the tournament at 2.02 lbs. The Rogers’ fish averaged almost a pound and a half. The winners had seven fish that weighed 11.54 lbs., a 1.649 lb. average.
