The Cedar County Commission met December 9,2024. Present: Kenneth Thornton; Presiding Commissioner; Ted Anderson, Southern Commissioner; Don Boultinghouse, Northern Commissioner; and Heather York, County Clerk.

Christian Fan-is, Viebrock Sales & Services stopped in to visit with the Commission.

Sheriff McCrary & Chief Deputy Jeffries presented weekly report on Inmate Housing Cedar-16; Dade-12; Barton-4; Polk-l=33

McCrary presented a policy to be approved for the Overtime Traffic Enforcement Agreement the Sheriff’s Office has applied for. Upon review of the grant the policy may he approved. McCrary discussed budget requests for 2025.

Uses two trustees to assist with things in the building to cut down on employment costs. The Commissary account is reported to have earned over $300,000 in revenue that is then turned over to the Inmate Security Fund. Dispatch averages 3 calls a week for El Dorado Springs when they are not on schedule and 5 calls a week for Stockton. The City of Stockton currently only covers 12 hours of service per day, per week with no one on duty over the weekend.

Cedar County picks up those hours and are not included in any agreement at this time. Jail deputies are eligible for the DSSSF. Two jail staff are currently going to police academy, 1 will graduate Thursday and 1 in May. If he has a choice and has to make cuts he would prefer raises instead of the cell phones.

Assessor Leah Morton presented weekly court order reports 12/02/24-12/06/24. Commission agrees to sell Assessor truck, clerk will look at posting on Purple Wave vs sealed bid.

DJ Ford, Road & Bridge Supervisor with weekly activity report. Ford will fmish meeting with MODOT for the 2024 Non-State Bridge Inspections for Cedar County later this week for the fracture critical bridges.

Arlo Rupke, Emergency Management Director stopped in to present a grant option for the State Park Marina to install a Warning Siren for that area of the county. This will he a multijurisdictional agreement, and the county will have to dispatch services if it is granted and approved. The agreement covers 100% of the project up to $100,000.
