Cedar County Commission met April 7, 2025. Present: Kenneth Thornton: Presiding Commissioner; Ron Alumbaugh, Northern Commissioner; Ted Anderson, Southern Commissioner; and Peggy Kenney, County Commission Administrative Assistant.

Assessor Leah Morton presented weekly court orders, April 1-4,2025

Collector Lisa Nelson presented court orders 1220 14- 12205 1.

Whisper rescinded their contract request

Called Titan Roofing to set up final walk through; scheduled for after 1 :00 pm 4.14.2025

Met with University Extension, monthly report

Interviewing for Secretary’s position

Neil will be going on maternity leave in June

Reorted paint chipping on ceiling in extension office

Christine Sherrod attended 4-H at the Capital with a host of local 4-Hers

Sherrod has been attending meetings in person & online

Discussed Program at the Library

Reviewed monthly reports from the following office holders: Sarah Turner. Circuit Clerk; Heather York, County

Clerk; WIC, Health Dept

Alumbaugh presented recommendations to water issues with Health Dept carport; treated lumber & Dal Coming hwy grade caulking was recommended by Goedeke at approximately $13.50 per tube

Met with James McCray, Sheriff. Discussed becoming a “Blue Shield” County; reviewed jail report; discussed water heater repair

Signed contract with Dedmon Flooring & Asbestos Removal

Signed Assessor Quarterly Reimbursement

Met with DJ Ford, Road & Bridge Supervisor for weekly status report; Stacey Hinker reported 95 1 Rd was in need of maintenance; Carl Gallette requesting 525 Rd be improved for heavy traffic, commission recommended alternate routes for heavy traffic

Approved expenditures and payroll to be paid

Motion by Anderson; Second by Thomton to pay BRO contractor pursuant to the signed contract, prior to the reimbursement of MoDot.

Leah Morton, Assessor inquired about 1% & 1 1/2 % commission collected for assessor’s office, Lisa Nelson, Collector will request a report from Clear Basin that shows the breakdown

County Clerk York reported she was in the process of submitting ARPA Expenditures, reported she was in the process of invoicing entities for election costs but was waiting on remaining expenses

Sheriff McCrary presented contract between Cedar County and Cedar County Ambulance District for Dispatch Services

Commissioner Alumbaugh gave update on West Central Board Meeting he attended

Treasurer Lowe reported she needs apportionments from County Clerk York to appropriate State Assessed Rail Road & Utilities and Fines

Met with DJ Ford, Road & Bridge Supervisor for weekly status report; it was reported: spur rd at Cedar Springs was in need of culvert by Greg Bausch; Debbie Johnson thanked Road & Bridge for fixing low water crossing; Carlos Carey reported 675 Rd was in need of repair

Ford reported his department was going to start hauling gravel on Special Road District’s to Conservation sites, they are nearing deadline, the paperwork wasn’t sent to individual districts, it was submitted as one contract for County & Special Road Districts

Circuit Clerk Turner discussed hiring a deputy to perform curfew checks; reported air conditioner is not working in court room and there’s a jury trial next week.

Motion by Alumbaugh; Second by Anderson to implement emergency clause pursuant to Mo Revised Statute 50.780 paragraph (2) to allow Stutesman’s to replace air conditioner in courtroom; Must be installed an operational by May 6,2025, for a cost not to exceed $12,000
