The Cedar County Commission met May 11, 2020. Present were: Marlon Collins, Presiding Commissioner; Don Boultinghouse, Northern Commissioner; Robert Foster, Southern Commissioner; Heather York, County Clerk.

Met with Chad Pyle, Assessor

Requests to process court order 25457-25473, to add-on the assessed valuation of newly purchased personal property.

County Commission signed BRO-B020(18) progress invoice #6.

Met with Sheriff James McCrary

Weekly Report of Inmate Housing: 36

Presented expenses specific to COVID-19.

Robert Graves stopped in to see the commission regarding 4th of July Fireworks plans at Agape School during the COVID-19 social distancing orders.  Agape School can’t control social distancing completely but are trying to abide by the limitations and are in the hopes that neighbors will allow parking in their fields to accommodate the separation orders.  The commission asked for Agape to prepare a proposal for what they will do before the commission will agree to allow the annual event.  If the event is approved, the commission will close off the roads as needed for the event as requested each year.

Met with DJ Ford, Road & Bridge Supervisor

New MAC truck to be delivered this week.

Ford truck has been repaired.

Discussed tree removal from CR350 and CR600.

Received a “Job well done.” from a resident on CR930.

Met with Ty Gaither, Prosecuting Attorney

Ty discussed COVID-19 situation from last week.  Commission recommended contacting the county clerk who handles payroll and HR to address concerns if future occurrences.  All staff tested negative and everyone is back to work.

Commission reviewed monthly reports from CCHD, and an employment application for road & bridge.

Requests to process court order 25474-25486, to add-on the assessed valuation of newly purchased personal property.  Discussed replacement of light fixtures in his office as they are out dated, not putting off very much light due to age, hum very loud, as well as discoloration of the plastic from previous years of smoking.  Commission agreed to his request.

Motion by Foster to change vacation policy accrual to hire date as anniversary instead of annual anniversary date being prorated to first week of April. This will be effective for all hiring’s after April 2019 so any annual anniversaries will begin earning on anniversary date in 2020; second by Boultinghouse.  Yes – Collins, Boultinghouse – Yes, Foster – Yes.

Stopped in to request call logs and requests attendance of the police contract liaison at the City of Stockton Board Meeting.

Met with Judge Munton, Circuit Judge

Stopped in to discuss COVID-19 and the courts plans for phase 1 reopening in 2 weeks.

Discussed and viewed parking area adjacent to courthouse for plans to update.
