The Cedar County Commission met August 17, 2021. Present were: Marlon Collins, Presiding Commissioner; Don Boultinghouse, Northern Commissioner; Ted Anderson, Southern Commissioner; Heather York, County Clerk.
Met with Chad Pyle, Assessor
Requests to process court order #26859-26868, to add-on the assessed valuation of newly purchased personal property.
Sheriff James McCrary, not present due to attendance at annual training.

Met with Mike Deren and Galen Floyd, GBS TPA for Health Insurance, conference call with Shawn Mayr, Connell Insurance
GBS offered proposed rates before health questionnaires; Connell Insurance has firm numbers but the two entities are working together at our request to prepare the best options for health insurance and supplemental plan offers. Health questionnaires have already been sent out to employees and we will try to have firm numbers by August 30, 2021.
Resident stopped in with questions about BRO projects and Road & Bridge employment costs vs. contract labor.
Met with DJ Ford, Road & Bridge Supervisor
Discussed road maintenance, currently spot ditching, if it stays dry will stop grading. Will begin running brush cutter next week.
Commission reviewed BRO funding handout, monthly financial report, and weekly report from MAC.

Discussed training from previous week. Jail is currently Covid free.
Wayne Yakel stopped in to see when the county is planning to paint the courthouse. He is interested in bidding.
Commission reviewed a letter from the Senior Tax Board requesting to replace Larry Rieder and Stewart Thomson with Cindy Graves and Ellis Benham.

Met with DJ Ford, Road & Bridge Supervisor
New employee started today in the brush cutter. John Deere is onsite to repair the grader. The CAT is on Powerline and other grader will end at Philly today. Discussed road maintenance on CR800 hill last week and this week. Looking for grader operator for our next new hire. Will install REA pipe this week. Discussed collector office needing help moving office for carpet install.
Met with HIC Insurance to discuss what they could offer for the 2021-2022 insurance renewal. HIC is not a TPA and is not a regular insurance carrier. We have spoken to them before. They feel they could offer something for the renewal; we will provide a census this week.
