The Cedar County Commission met September 19, 2022. Present were: Marlon Collins, Presiding Commissioner; Don Boultinghouse, Northern Commissioner; Ted Anderson, Southern Commissioner; Heather York, County Clerk.

Met with Chad Pyle, Assessor

Requests to process court order #27913-27921 to add-on the assessed valuation of newly purchased personal property.

Met with Sheriff McCrary

Inmate Housing – 56

Discussed concerns over staffing issues, with other counties paying more money, the commission have concerns over excessive overtime due to being short staffed.  Jasper County pays the way of the deputies through the police academy, another county or two are paying bonuses for the next few years with ARPA Funding but will not be permanent as ARPA is only temporary.

Collins attended Hazard Mitigation meeting last week; prepared the Multijurisdictional Data Collection Survey.

Met with DJ Ford, Road and Bridge Supervisor

Presented weekly report of activity.  The crew is currently hauling rock during the dry weather we are having.  Diamond brush cutter is working at this time, but does not recommend purchasing another one like it as it is a poor design.  The newest John Deere tractor is not holding up the way the old one did.  Ford presented basic bridge plans for the bridge decking they are planning to build for the CR1000 truck bed bridge, also discussed recycling some bridge steel on another bridge for this project.

Motion by Boultinghouse to prepare an ordinance to participate in the Prescription Drug Monitoring Program, second by Anderson.  Anderson – Yes; Boultinghouse – Yes; Collins – No

A future date will be set by the Cedar County Commission to hold a public hearing to discuss this before adopting the ordinance.
