Message from the Chief Deputy

The Importance of Neighborhood Awareness

A strong community starts with looking out for one another. Being aware of what’s happening in your neighborhood is one of the best ways to help prevent crime and promote safety. Whether you live in town or a rural area, staying connected and informed makes a difference.

Stay Observant:

• If something feels out of place like unfamiliar vehicles or suspicious activity trust your instincts and report it.

• Be mindful of your surroundings, especially at night or when traveling alone.

• Keep an eye on homes of neighbors who may be out of town or need assistance.

Report Suspicious Activity:

• If you see something unusual, call the Sheriff’s Office.

• Provide detailed descriptions when reporting suspicious behavior, including vehicle make, model, color, and license plates if possible.

• Do not confront suspicious individuals leave it to law enforcement.

Community awareness is a key part of crime prevention, and we all have a role in keeping Cedar County safe.

Stay safe,

Clay Jeffries

Chief Deputy

Cedar County Sheriff’s Office
