Message from the Chief Deputy

“Your car came with turn signals and brakes. Please use both.”

Lately, it seems some drivers in Cedar County think blinkers are optional and stop signs are suggestions. They’re not. We double-checked.

So here’s your friendly reminder:

Use your turn signals mind reading isn’t a required skill for drivers

Stop means stop not “slow down and see if anyone’s watching”

Driving safely helps everyone get home (and keeps us from writing awkward tickets)

Let’s all do our part to keep the roads safe and boring.

Drive like your grandma’s in the passenger seat because if she is, she’s definitely judging you.

Protecting Our Seniors from Scams

Scammers often target older adults, using fear and confusion to trick them into giving away money or personal information. These schemes can be devastating, but they can also be prevented.

Remind your loved ones:

• Never give out Social Security or bank info over the phone

• Hang up on unsolicited calls demanding money or gift cards

• No law enforcement agency will ever demand payment over the phone

If you or someone you know has been contacted by a scammer, please report it. The more we talk about these tactics, the better we can protect our parents, grandparents, and neighbors. https://www.ic3.gov.
