The El Dorado Springs Police Department responded to 78 requests for assistance this past week, Aug. 30-Sept. 5. The requests were as follows:

Ambulance Assists 11, Animal Control 12, Assist Other Agencies 12, All Escorts 1, Nuisance 7, All Other Requests for Assistance 35, Summons 10.

Found Property is subject to disposal after 90 days based on value of the property if unclaimed by owner.

Police Report

On  August 30, 2021 officers responded to a check the well being of a motorist sleeping in a vehicle with the driver’s door open parked along the street in the 100 block of West Broadway.  The driver later identified as, Jessie R. Miller, 23, of Independence, Missouri, departed the scene rapidly resulting in a glancing strike on the officer from the side of the vehicle. The officer pursued the vehicle into Vernon County. Vernon County Deputies and K-9 Unit located Miller who was taken into custody for several warrants.  Officers completed a probable cause statement and received a Cedar County Warrant charging Miller with Class B Felony of Assault Second Degree and Class E Felony of Resisting Arrest with no bond.  I would like to thank the Vernon County Sheriff’s Office for their assistance in this incident.

On September 2, 2021, officers responded to 115 East US 54 Highway, Pitt Stop, concerning a larceny. The investigation revealed the theft of $50.00 of gasoline. A report taken and the investigation continues.

On September 2, 2021, officers responded to 403 South Ohio, Apt 9, concerning a larceny. The investigation revealed the theft of prescription drugs. A report taken and the investigation continues.

On September 2, 2021, officers responded to 100 East US 54 Highway, Casey’s General Store, concerning tampering with a motor vehicle. The investigation revealed the vehicle was unlocked and the bezel around the ignition switch was removed. A report taken and the investigation continues.

On September 2, 2021, officers arrested Melissa A Sartin, 44, of Republic for the probable cause of Driving While Intoxicated (Prior Offender) and Failure to Comply with Ignition Interlock. She was released on summonses pending a court appearance.

On September 3, 2021, officers responded to 1603 South Missouri 32 Highway concerning a larceny. The investigation revealed the theft of a patio set and cushions. A report taken and the investigation continues.

On September 4, 2021, officers arrested Brenton L. Kafer, 28, of El Dorado Springs, for a Cedar County Warrant charging him with Fail to Appear on the original charges of Burglary with a $25,000 bond. He was transferred to Cedar County Jail pending a court appearance.

On September 7, 2021, officers arrested Korey L. Wegner, 34, of El Dorado Springs, for El Dorado Springs Municipal Warrants charging him for Stealing with a $351.50 bond, Tampering, with a $351.50 bond, and Trespassing with $351.50 bond. He was released after a court appearance.

On September 7, 2021 officers responded to 510 East Gentry concerning a Domestic Assault. The investigation resulted in the arrest of Clifford O. Wood, 59, of El Dorado Springs, for the probable cause of Domestic Assault 4th Degree. He was released on summons pending a court appearance.   

On September 12, 2021, officers responded to1301 Industrial Parkway East, Southwest Missouri Psychiatric Rehabilitation Center concerning an assault. A suspect was identified, a report taken and the investigation continues.

On September 12, 2021, officers responded to 211 North Grand concerning a burglary.   The investigation revealed the theft of coins, a semiautomatic .380 caliber pistol, and a 50 inch smart television. A report taken and the investigation continues.
