In the case of all arrests, it must be remembered that the charge is merely an accusation and all defendants are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.

Law enforcement activities

The El Dorado Springs Police Department responded to 73 requests for assistance this past week, Sept. 13-19. The requests were as follows:

Ambulance Assists 9, Animal Control 13, Assist Other Agencies 9, All Escorts 0, Nuisance 5, All Other Requests for Assistance 37, Summons 10.

Found Property is available for viewing, Monday through Saturday, by appointment only. A detailed description of the property you’re wishing to view must be specified when making the appointment. Found Property is subject to disposal after 90 days based on value of the property if unclaimed by owner.

Police Report

On September 13, 2021, officers responded to 500 East Fields, Trailer 25A, concerning a peace disturbance. The investigation resulted in the arrest of Charles T. Suddeth, 26, of El Dorado Springs, for the probable cause of Child Abuse. He was released on summons pending a court appearance.

On September 17, 2021, officers responded to 215 West Hightower concerning a check the well being.  Upon arrival officers located Johnnie D. Billings, 56, of El Dorado Springs, deceased inside the home. The investigation revealed the theft of a black 2006 Harley-Davidson Sportster motorcycle.  Investigators of the Missouri State Highway Patrol are assisting in the investigation. On September 18, 2021, officers recovered the motorcycle in rural El Dorado Springs with the assistance of concerned citizens.  Anyone with information concerning this investigation is encouraged to call 417-876-TIPS (8477).   

On September 17, 2021, officers responded to the intersection of US 54 Highway and South Park Street concerning a report of a pedestrian struck by a motor vehicle. According to witnesses on the scene, this accident apparently occurred when the pedestrian entered the crosswalk against the crosswalk control signal and was struck by an eastbound vehicle. The pedestrian received serious injury and was transported by Cedar County Ambulance to the El Dorado Springs Municipal Airport where the pedestrian was transferred to helicopter and flown to Cox South Hospital, Springfield for treatment. 

On September 19, 2021, officers responded to 303 North Main Street concerning a burglary.  A report taken and the investigation continues.
