In the case of all arrests, it must be remembered that the charge is merely an accusation and all defendants are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.

Law enforcement activities

The El Dorado Springs Police Department responded to 79 requests for assistance this past week, Oct. 11-17. The requests were as follows:

Ambulance Assists 9, Animal Control 11, Assist Other Agencies 6, All Escorts 0, Nuisance 4, All Other Requests for Assistance 54, Summons 5.

Found Property is available for viewing, Monday through Saturday, by appointment only. A detailed description of the property you’re wishing to view must be specified when making the appointment. Found Property is subject to disposal after 90 days based on value of the property if unclaimed by owner.

Police Report

On September 17, 2021, officers responded to 215 West Hightower concerning a check the well being.  Upon arrival officers located Johnnie D. Billings, 56, of El Dorado Springs, deceased inside the home. The investigation revealed the theft of a black 2006 Harley-Davidson Sportster motorcycle.  Investigators of the Missouri State Highway Patrol are assisting in the investigation. On September 18, 2021, officers recovered the motorcycle in rural El Dorado Springs with the assistance of concerned citizens. On October 14, investigators arrested Andrew Vessey for the probable cause of Murder 2nd Degree.  He was transported to the Cedar County Jail. Officers completed probable cause statements concerning this investigation.  On October 15, 2021, officers received Cedar County Warrants for Alexander J. Masters, 22,  and  Andrew G. Vessey, 34, of El Dorado Springs, charging them with Murder 2nd Degree, Burglary 1st Degree, and Armed Criminal Action with a $500,000.00 bond.  Masters and Vessey are being held at the Cedar County Jail pending bond and court appearances. 

On October 11, 2021, officers arrested Santiago Martinez, 35, of El Dorado Springs, for an El Dorado Springs Municipal Warrant, charging him with Driving While Revoked with a $531.50 bond. He was transferred to Cedar County Jail pending a court appearance.

On October 12, 2021, officers responded to 118 West Gay concerning Trespassing. The investigation resulted in the arrest of Louis M. Stockdale, 29, of El Dorado Springs, for the probable cause of Trespassing. He was released on summons pending a court appearance.

On October 13, 2021, officers responded to 100 East U.S. 54 Highway, Casey’s General Store, concerning a larceny.  The investigation resulted in the arrest of Stephen G. Painter, 19, of El Dorado Springs, for the probable cause of Minor in Possession and Endangering Welfare of a Child. He was released on summonses pending a court appearance.

On October 13, 2021 officers arrested Joshua D Carter, 42, of El Dorado Springs, for an El Dorado Springs Municipal Warrant charging him with Fail to Register Vehicle with an $82.00 bond. He was released pending a court appearance.

On October 14, 2021, officers arrested Louis M. Stockdale, 29, of El Dorado Springs, for a Barton County Warrant charging him with Tampering with a Motor Vehicle 1st Degree with no bond. He was transferred to the Barton County Sheriff’s Office pending a court appearance.

On October 14, 2021, officers responded to 215 West Martin concerning a larceny. The investigation revealed the theft of vinyl windows. A report taken and the investigation continues.

On October 15, 2021, officers responded to 312 West US 54 Highway, Woods Supermarket, concerning shoplifting. The investigation revealed the theft of make-up. The investigation resulted in the arrest of Norma J Bledsoe, 58, of El Dorado Springs, for the probable cause of stealing. She was released on summons pending a court appearance.

On October 15, 2021, officers responded to 312 West US 54 Highway, Woods Supermarket, concerning a larceny. The investigation revealed the theft of a bottle of Rum and Deli meals. A suspect was identified, a report taken and the investigation continues.

On October 15, 2021, officers arrested Magan D. Padgett, 39, of Schell City, for El Dorado Springs Municipal Warrants charging her with Driver Fail to Secure Child who is less than 8 years old in a Child Restraint or Booster Seat and Driving While Revoked or Suspended with a $294.50 bond. She was released on bond pending a court appearance.
