In the case of all arrests, it must be remembered that the charge is merely an accusation and all defendants are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.

Law enforcement activities

The El Dorado Springs Police Department responded to 125 requests for assistance this past week, Dec. 13-19. The requests were as follows:

Ambulance Assists 15, Animal Control 10, Assist Other Agencies 18, All Escorts 0, Nuisance 10, All Other Requests for Assistance 72, Summons 8.

Found Property is available for viewing, Monday through Saturday, by appointment only. A detailed description of the property you’re wishing to view must be specified when making the appointment. Found Property is subject to disposal after 90 days based on value of the property if unclaimed by owner.

Police Report

On December 13, 2021 officers responded to 204 East Olive in reference to an assault. A suspect has been identified, a report was taken, and the investigation continues.

On December 13, 2021 officers responded to Family Dollar at 700 East U.S. Highway 54 in reference to shoplifting.  The investigation revealed the theft of shampoo, cough syrup, ibuprofen and vapor rub. The investigation resulted in the arrest of Karen K. Masters, 44, of Miller charging her with shoplifting. Masters also has active warrants in Dade County for Failure to Appear on the original charges of Fraud with a bond of: $750.00 cash only, Jasper County Probation Violation warrant for two counts of Stealing with a bond of $1,000.00 cash only. Barry County Warrant for Fraud with a bond of $5,000.00 cash or surety and Lawrence County Warrant for a Non Moving Traffic Violation with a bond of $50.00 cash only, Moving Traffic Violation with a bond of $200.00 cash only and Fail to Appear on the original charges of Fraud with a bond of $506.70 cash only. She was transferred to the Cedar County Jail pending transfer or court appearance.

On December 15, 2021, officers responded to 1300 South First Street concerning a reported larceny. The investigation revealed the theft of a wallet containing a driver’s license, social security card, insurance card, $160.00 in US currency, twelve blank checks, medical cards and a blue ink pen. A suspect has been identified and the investigation continues.

On December 15, 2021, officers took a report of a stolen license plate. The investigation continues.

On December 17, 2021, officers responded to 121 West Pine in reference to an assault. The investigation resulted in the arrest of James M. Rigg, 30, of El Dorado Springs, charging him with Assault. He was released on summons pending a court appearance.

On December 19, 2021, officers responded to 415 South Main concerning a report of Property Damage. The investigation resulted in the arrest of Nathan A. Lamb, 21, of El Dorado Springs charging him with property damage. He was released on summons pending a court appearance.

On December 19, 2021 officers responded to 119 West Hightower concerning a reported larceny. The investigation revealed the theft of an inflatable hot tub and pump. A report taken and the investigation continues.

On December 19, 2021, officers arrested Jarret R. Major, 32, of El Dorado Springs, for Three Cedar County Failure to appear warrants with the original charges of Possession of Burglary Tools, Burglary, and Possession of a Controlled substance, all of the Cedar County Warrants had a CAPIS bond.  Major also had four Vernon County Failure to Appear Warrants with the original charges of Moving traffic Violation $150 cash only bond, Leaving the scene of an Accident $250 cash only bond, Moving Traffic Violation $100.00 cash only bond, and Trespassing $100.00 cash only bond. Major was transferred to the Cedar County Jail pending a court appearance.
