In the case of all arrests, it must be remembered that the charge is merely an accusation and all defendants are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.

Law enforcement activities

The El Dorado Springs Police Department responded to 91 requests for assistance this past week, Feb. 7-13. The requests were as follows:

Ambulance Assists 7, Animal Control 15, Assist Other Agencies 16, All Escorts 2, Nuisance 7, All Other Requests for Assistance 43, Summons 7.

Found Property is available for viewing, Monday through Saturday, by appointment only. A detailed description of the property you’re wishing to view must be specified when making the appointment. Found Property is subject to disposal after 90 days based on value of the property if unclaimed by owner.

Police Report

On February 7, 2022, officers arrested Clifford Short, 59, of El Dorado Springs for a Nevada Municipal Court Warrant, charging him with a Traffic Offense with a $137.00 cash bond. He was released pending a court appearance.

On February 8, 2022, officers responded to 305 West Hickory concerning a burglary. The investigation revealed the theft of a flat screen television. A report taken and the investigation continues.

On February 9, 2022, officers responded to a report of tampering with a motor vehicle at 227 West U.S. 54 Highway. A report taken and the investigation continues.

On February 10, 2022, officers arrested Korey Wegner, 35, of El Dorado Springs, for El Dorado Springs Municipal Warrants, charging him with Stealing, Tampering and two counts of Trespassing with a $1406.00 bond. He was transferred to the Cedar County Jail pending a court appearance.

On February 10, 2022, officers arrested Adam W. Prewitt, 42, of El Dorado Springs, for a Cedar County Warrant, charging him with Dangerous Drugs with $5,000.00 bond and an El Dorado Springs Municipal Warrant charging him with Possession of Drug Paraphernalia with a $231.50 bond.  He was transferred to the Cedar County Jail pending a court appearance.

On February 10, 2022, officers responded to 312 West US 54 Highway, Woods Supermarket, concerning a shoplifting. The investigation revealed the theft of $185.00 worth of groceries.  A report taken and the investigation continues.

On February 11, 2022, officers arrested Eric M. Tompkins, 36, of El Dorado Springs, for a Cedar County Warrant, charging him with Assault with a $2,500.00 bond. He was transferred to the Cedar County Jail pending a court appearance.

On December 12, 2022, officers arrested Matthew W. Yakel, 40, of El Dorado Springs, for the probable cause of Driving While Intoxicated, Driving While Revoked and Failure to Comply with Ignition Interlock. He was released on summonses pending a court appearance.
