In the case of all arrests, it must be remembered that the charge is merely an accusation and all defendants are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.

Law enforcement activities

The El Dorado Springs Police Department responded to 113 requests for assistance this past week, Oct. 17-23. The requests were as follows:

Ambulance Assists 15, Animal Control 19, Assist Other Agencies 15, All Escorts 0, Nuisance 0, All Other Requests for Assistance 64, Summons 1.

Anyone interested in adopting  animals from the City Pound should contact Officer Mendelsohn at 876-2313.

Found Property is available for viewing, Monday through Saturday, by appointment only. A detailed description of the property you’re wishing to view must be specified when making the appointment. Found Property is subject to disposal after 90 days based on value of the property if unclaimed by owner.

Police Report

On October 17, 2023 officers responded to 1003 South Main Street concerning a larceny. The investigation revealed the theft of a laptop, Nintendo Switch and a Switch charger with lights. A report taken and the investigation continues.

On October 17, 2022, officers responded to 100 South Main Street, City Park, concerning property damage to the restrooms. A report taken and the investigation continues.

On October 18, 2022, officers responded to 110 South Jackson Street, City Pool, concerning a reported trespassing.  Juvenile suspects were identified and referred to the Juvenile Office.

On October 19, 2022, officers responded to the city pound facility concerning a trespassing and larceny. The investigation revealed three dog’s had been released. A report taken and the investigation continues.

On October 19, 2022, officers responded to 116 West Oak Street concerning a burglary. The investigation revealed the theft of a tool box with tools, fishing poles, a Dell laptop with a case, a 32 inch TV and a steel gun case. A report was taken and the investigation continues.

On October 19, 2022, officers responded to 111 West Marshall Street concerning a Domestic Assault.  Suspects were identified and the investigation continues.

On October 20, 2022, officers responded to a careless and wreckless driver in the 200 block of West US 54 Highway.  The investigation resulted in the arrest of Kenneth W. Johnson, 44, of El Dorado Springs, for the probable cause of Driving While Revoked. He was released on summons pending a court appearance.

On October 20, 2022, officers responded to 312 West US 54 Highway, Wood’s Supermarket, concerning a larceny. The investigation revealed the theft of a bottle of Malibu Pineapple Rum, a 6 pack of Dr Pepper and chicken from the deli. A report taken and the investigation continues.

On October 21, 2022, officers arrested Korey L. Wegner, 36, of El Dorado Springs, for an El Dorado Springs Municipal Court Warrant charging him with Failure to Appear on the original charge of Property Damage with a $131.50 bond. He was released on his own recognizance pending a court appearance.

On October 22, 2022, officers responded to the 1300 block of East Industrial Parkway concerning gun shots. Upon arrival in the area, a vehicle fled the officer and was involved in an accident. Officers arrested Joshiah J. Ruston, 22, of El Dorado Springs, for the probable cause of Careless and Reckless Driving, Driving While Intoxicated, Fail to Stop for an Emergency Vehicle, No Operator’s License (Expired). Officers completed a probable cause statement for these charges. Officers received a Cedar County Warrant charging Ruston with Resisting Arrest, No Valid License and Failure to Yield with a $25,000.00 bond. He was transferred to the Cedar County Jail pending bond and court appearance.

On October 22, 2022, officers responded the station concerning a reported larceny from a motor vehicle at 110 Winner Road. The investigation revealed the theft of a 9mm SCCY CPX-2 with a tan grip and black slide. A report taken and the investigation continues.

On October 23, 2022, officers responded to, 312 West US 54 Highway, Wood’s Supermarket, concerning a larceny. The investigation revealed the theft of a bottle of Tito’s Vodka, Malibu Pineapple Rum and a half gallon of chocolate milk. A report taken and the investigation continues.
