In the case of all arrests, it must be remembered that the charge is merely an accusation and all defendants are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.

Law enforcement activities

The El Dorado Springs Police Department responded to 74 requests for assistance this past week, April 17-23. The requests were as follows:

Ambulance Assists 3, Animal Control 10, Assist Other Agencies 12, All Escorts 1, Nuisance 4, All Other Requests for Assistance 44, Summons 6.

Animal Control

Anyone interested in adopting  animals from the City Pound should contact Officer Richards, animal control officer at 876-2313.

Found Property is available for viewing, Monday through Saturday, by appointment only. A detailed description of the property you’re wishing to view must be specified when making the appointment. Found Property is subject to disposal after 90 days based on value of the property if unclaimed by owner.

Police Report

On April 18, 2023, officers arrested Matthew T. Charles, 30, of El Dorado Springs, for the probable cause of Fugitive from Justice and an active Dade County Warrant for Failure to Appear with the original charge of Fishing without a Permit for a Non-resident with a $200.00 bond and Sedgwick County KS Warrant, charging him with seven felony counts of Rape of a Child less than 14 years old and two counts of felony Attempted Aggravated Indecent Liberties with a Child. Officers complete a probable cause statement for Fugitive from Justice. Officers received a Cedar County Warrant, charging him with Fugitive from Justice with a $150,000.00 cash bond.  He was transferred to the Cedar County Jail pending bond and court appearances.

On April 20, 2023, officers responded to 114 Winner Road concerning a larceny. The investigation revealed the theft of a Diamondback bicycle. A report taken and the investigation continues.

On April 21, 2023, officers responded to 100 East US 54 Highway, Casey’s General Store, concerning Trespassing. The investigation resulted in the arrest of Dillon W. Pratt, 27, of El Dorado Springs, for the probable cause of Trespassing. He was released on summons pending a court appearance.

On April 22, 2023, officers responded to 508 South Summer concerning trespassing. The investigation resulted in the arrest of Christopher A. Hetherington, 35, of El Dorado Springs, for the probable cause of Trespassing. He was released on summons pending a court appearance.

On April 23, 2023, officers responded to 807 South First Street concerning a larceny. The investigation revealed the theft of packages delivered by a carrier.  A report taken and the investigation continues.

On April 23, 2023, officers responded to 425 W Martin concerning a peace disturbance. The investigation resulted in the arrest of Christopher B. Austin, 43, of El Dorado Springs, for a Polk County, charging him with Tampering with a Motor Vehicle with no bond.  He is being held pending transferred to the Polk County Jail.
